For some people, they say means worse than death. For others, public speaking is a wonderful thing, that they are hoping for. If you fall into a group that not only loves to talk, but wanted to do more, then read on …
Professional speaking is a relatively new profession. When you tell people: “I am a professional speaker,” about half the cases, you will be met with blank stares or a stupid question. However, speaking as a career has become more popular, which means that the work of public appearances are becoming more affordable.
If he says to the life it seems that this may be your cup of tea, then there are two paths you can follow:
1) Find a “regular job”, that it is a big component.
2) Start your own business as a professional speaker and looking for her talk show.
For some reason the first option may sound good. You do not have to deal with elements that are not fun on the business, such as sales, logistics, content creation, etc. You just talk. But I would not recommend this path. Why? Several reasons:
1) Your passion does not matter. Your employer will tell you what to say, whether they support or even like the theme. Your passion plays a minor role in what you say.
2) There are many “do not say things” to do. A lot of your time will be spent on such things as administration, meetings, reports, and other small things that come to work in the organization.
3) You do not have control. You do not decide where and to whom you speak, your employer is not. If you do not like the presentation of certain types of groups, but the boss, where you decide that you need to speak, you speak there.
